Hi Gang, in October 1973, Richard S Greene and friends started Our Big Business Oasis #16. Rick will be in town to help us celebrate this milestone on Sunday Oct. 29, 1:00 pm. WHAT’S PLAYING: Big Business, 1929 (of course) Stan and Ollie are Christmas tree salesmen in California. Business is slow and grumpy prospective customer (James Finlayson) escalates from a simple argument into full scale mutual destruction, all under the disbelieving gaze of a police officer.
Sons of the Desert, 1933 This exceptionally funny film, have the Boys at their best. We see Stan’s face as he eats the wax apple, or as Ollie attempts to stand-up to his spouse. The Sons themselves are a spoof of every fraternal organization that’s ever taken itself too seriously. A Very funny Charley Chase is the epitome of every obnoxious conventioneer.
The Battle of the Century 1927 This tent premiere has been restored & now includes the bulk of the 2nd reel from the Robert Youngson collection, found by Jon Mirsalis. Look for Lou Costello as a prize fight fan.
