Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Terry Crews ‘in tears’ as he leads emotional cast paying tribute after filming wraps on final season

Filming has officially wrapped on the final season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and we’re not ready to say goodbye.

Bosses announced in February that the upcoming series of the police comedy – starring Terry Crews, Stephanie Beatriz and Andy Samberg – would be the last.

The cast and crew have commemorated the final day of filming season eight with emotional posts on social media, sharing some of their favourite memories from set.

Melissa Fumero, who plays Amy Santiago, gave fans a glimpse at her work pass, recalling the day her picture was taken.

‘8 years ago, @beezus218 walked me, @stephaniebeatriz & @chelsanity to get our pictures taken for our lot badges,’ she wrote on Instagram.

‘Something about that moment made everything really real – we actually made that pilot, it actually got picked up, we actually were about to shoot a whole season of this incredible show on this lot with this amazing cast that I was loving more and more each day.

‘Filled with so much excitement and nerves, Chelsea said something that made me laugh right as the photographer clicked the camera… and that moment was predicative of what the next 8 years would be like.

‘Each day was full of laughter, of excitement, of nerves, of confidence, of elated exhaustion, and of beautiful friendship & collaboration. #Brooklyn99.’

Terry followed suit, sharing photos from his first and last day of shooting.

‘What can I say. Been in tears all day. 8 years with this wonderful cast and crew,’ the Terry Jeffords actor captioned the upload. ‘The highs, the lows and everything in between – but we made it.

‘I’m so thankful for the fans who kept us alive when we were 𝕕𝕖𝕒𝕕 in the water. We came back stronger and better— all thanks to your love and support. I will miss Terry Jeffords because he IS me.

‘The NINE-NINE will live on forever in my heart and in the hearts of millions of fans around the world. Terry loves yogurt, Terry loves love- and TERRY LOVES YOU.’

The feeling is definitely mutual.

Joel McKinnon Miller, who plays bumbling Scully to perfection, posed in front of the sunny set lot, telling fans: ‘Last day of work on #brooklyn99 with a bunch of people I love #season8 #bestcrew @nbcbrooklyn99 #lighteninginabottle.’

An air date for season eight has yet to be announced, but it was confirmed the sitcom will run for a shorter batch of 10 episodes, due in part to the pandemic restricting filming, and rewrites following the police brutality protests that took place in New York last year.

Confirming news of the programme ending, Pearlena Igbokwe, Chairman of Universal Studio Group said: ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been one of the jewels in our comedy crown. It’s had an incredible run across not one but two networks, garnered widespread acclaim and captured the hearts of fans all over the world.
