Pass over the elixir of youth, Monica Bellucci. The stunning 57-year-old model and actor has wowed us again. Over her decades long career, she’s done it all – catwalk superstar, FROW regular, Bond girl – and since the 1990s, her style has been a source of inspiration. She’s evolved from wearing silky, impossibly sexy corseted dresses to living it up in lace and cinched-waist belts (the odd corset has appeared in more recent years, too).
Ahead of a performance in Venice, she boarded a slick (and very James Bond-esque) boat to go from hotel to stage. She cruised alongside director Tom Volf, who’s currently working with her on a theatrical adaptation of Maria Callas: Letters & Memoirs, and posed for onlooking paparazzi.
For the city’s chilly climes, Bellucci chose an elegant black coat and navy scarf, paired with stilettos. Make-up wise, she stuck to her tried-and-tested sultry dark eye and applied plenty of liner, wearing her hair in effortless, loose waves. Though she is known for her love of sparkling jewellery, no dazzlers were on show in Venice – or, at least, they were shrouded by her cosy layers.
In a recent interview with Vogue, she cited her mother and grandmother as the reasons for her appreciation of style. “The women in my family taught me that we have the right to love ourselves and create space for our pleasure,” she added. “That [care] is the ultimate expression of our femininity, one that reflects not only in our fashion and jewellery but also in the way we treat ourselves.”
