Fran Drescher, star of The Nanny, claims she and her gay ex-husband were kidnapped by aliens. And probed. And had a microchip implanted.
She was working at a bridal shop in Flushing, Queens, when aliens abducted her and microchipped her and …
It doesn’t sound quite right, although this scenario would have made for plenty of eyebrow-raising innuendo with Mr Sheffield. Cue canned laughter.
But the alien experience is quite serious to Drescher, who told her story to the Huffington Post.
“You know, it’s funny because Peter (Drescher’s ex) and I both saw (aliens) before we knew each other; doing the same thing, driving on the road with our dads,” she said.
“We were both in junior high. A few years later, we met, and we realised that we had the same experience. I think that somehow we were programmed to meet. We both have this scar. It’s the exact same scar on the exact same spot.”
Ex-husband Peter Marc Jacobson doesn’t agree with Drescher’s version of their shared extraterrestrial pasts, saying she got the small scar on her hand from a drill bit or from burning herself holding a hot cup of water.
But Drescher has an explanation for the apparent difference: “I said to him, that’s what the aliens programmed us to think. But really, that’s where the chip is.”
Drescher doesn’t offer any suggestions as to why she was abducted. Maybe her nasal laugh can cut through the atmosphere and transmit directly to outer space.
As it is, her earthbound existence is kind of extraordinary. In 1985 she was raped at gunpoint in front of her then-husband. He later turned out to be gay, inspiring her latest TV show, Happily Divorced.
In 2000 she was forced to have a radical hysterectomy due to uterine cancer and wrote about it in Cancer Schmancer.
Drescher is definitely programmed to survive, but exactly who programmed her remains to be seen.
