Sophia Loren celebrates her 84th birthday today.
In honour of the beautiful birthday girl, we take a nostalgic look back at the screen legend through the years.
Known for her beauty as well as her acting ability, stunning Sophia was catapulted to fame in the early 1960s following the release of Vittorio De Sica’s film Two Women.
In a long career spanning six decades, the Italian actress has appeared in at least 60 movies.
However it was her stand out performance as Cesira in De Sica’s film that earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1962.
The Oscar-winning actress has added several accolades to the prestigious award over the decades including five Golden Globes and a Grammy.
The screen legend was honoured with yet another acting award just last month at the Film by the Sea Festival.
Looking as beautiful as ever, Sophia visited the Netherlands to accept the Grand Acting Award from the Dutch Minister of Culture.
The Hollywood icon appeared radiant in a shimmery black gown as she accepted the award.
Take a look at the star of The Pride and the Passion (1957), Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow (1963) and Houseboat (1958) in pictures.
