‘Yellowstone’ Tributes John Prine in Episode 3, Fans Are All About It

The hit Paramount Network series “Yellowstone” paid tribute to country music legend John Prine in its most recent episode.

Prine’s hit song “Caravan of Fools” went along with the episode’s final moments and ending credits. The hit song comes from Prine’s 2018 album, “The Tree of Forgiveness” which became a hit for the late country legend. Prine 𝕕𝕚𝕖𝕕 on April 7 of last year at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee after complications stemming from his battle with the COVID-19 virus. “Yellowstone” fans believed it to be a fitting tribute to the fallen country singer and songwriter. In a recent Reddit thread, fans of the show thank writers and producers for remembering Prine’s contributions. Many say the modern western drama series did Prine proud by including “Caravan of Fools” in the closing credits.

“So awesome when that credit rolled by,” a Reddit user and “Yellowstone” fan writes.

“I’m glad the show paid tribute to him,” another fan of the modern western states. “Something the CMAs didn’t even do.”

“I got chills,” another says.

One fan even quoted the late, great Johnny Cash to pay “Yellowstone” a compliment for honoring Prine.

“Johnny Cash, in his autobiography Cash, wrote, ‘I don’t listen to music much at the farm unless I’m going into songwriting mode and looking for inspiration. Then I’ll put on something by the writers I’ve admired and used for years — Rodney Crowell, John Prine, Guy Clark, and the late Steve Goodman are my Big Four.’”

John Prine is widely regarded as one of the most influential songwriters of all time. Prine won four Grammy Awards during his decades-long music career. He also won a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020, the year he passed away.

‘Yellowstone” Season Four Off to a Hot Start

Not only did “Yellowstone” honor John Prine with the third episode but they also got fans excited with an action-packed hour of modern western goodness.

The episode picked where the previous one left off. After telling his son, Kayce, that the Montana Militia needed to be wiped from the face of the earth — John Dutton sent out the order. His team of cowboys and livestock officers made short work of the militia, dividing and conquering the group within the opening minutes of the episode.

Unfortunately, not everything was blissful on the Dutton Ranch for the third episode. We said goodbye to a fan favorite in ‘Yellowstone” ranch hand, Jimmy Hurdstrom. Jimmy is heading down south to Texas where he will join the Four Sixes Ranch, one of the largest cattle ranches in the country. This move has led many to believe that Jimmy will be a primary character in the “Yellowstone” spinoff “6666.”
